A Bad Case of Hubris: The Team Killer

There’s an old African proverb that you hear every now and then: “When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you.” Sadly, we as gamers haven’t taken heed; every day, we walk around carrying our greatest enemies alongside us. Not the other team, but ourselves.

“Before you attempt to beat the odds, be sure you could survive the odds beating you.” (Larry Kersten (American Sociologist and Author)

Overconfidence is the downfall of many, even in the gaming world.

In fact, overconfidence can cause you to lose battle after battle until there are no more battles to fight because the game is over and you unsurprisingly, are not the victor. Confidence can win you games, but if you delve in too deep to your ambitions you will become something else entirely.

I have seen it happen far too many times in my experiences with Major League Gaming. Teams have fallen apart and dynasties have been uprooted because a player or two couldn’t accept the fact they made a mistake. You learn from your mistakes, and so it is imperative that you acknowledge your mistakes or you will never improve. Take a step back from your inner ego today and read on.

I guess it’s kinda helpful but all these articles are just common sense that most decent players already apply to their own game

These articles are fairly helpful in the sense that they provide insight to the less experienced players. I am not the good of a player, but I was worse until I happened to stumble across this site and it’s well informed articles. It has defiantly increased my skill by at least 150% i hope to keep reading and keep improving. I hope to see you guys at MLG Anaheim
